Resume for Teachers displays something beyond

Most of the time when we are applying for a job whether it be online or just at the nearby school who are looking for additional teachers, we provide a cover letter of the resume.  It is true, that the cover letter could motivate the reader or the Principal or the HR, as a teacher, your resume counts most because in here is displayed the real essence the person applying for a teacher job.

In the resume, any one who will look in it will determine how equipped, dynamic and intelligent a teacher in the teaching field will be, and the resume too, will be the determinant if you will be shortlist and be called later.  This is why you need to look beyond what is really being emphasized in your resume.  Check the personality you want the principal to see, whom most of the time is the person in-charge on deciding on such hiring additional teachers of the school.

If you are not that familiar in developing and formulating a good and impressive resume, I would like to suggest you share this problem to your friends who is also a teacher especially the English teacher as this person is very much aware on sentences you may construct and most importantly, the personality your resume will display when read.

Today, almost all if not all of those public and private institutions whether it be in the education or in the business sector, resume is being required.  This only proves that a resume is such an important paper because in here the employer will determine if you are qualified for the position you are applying or not.

Resume for Teachers : “OBJECTIVE”

The objective in your resume should contain the most easy yet captivating words.  Obviously, directly mentioning you could be of great help and an asset to the company is no longer a strong objective.  You should be fair enough in your objective.  The company you are apply will hire you because of your ability and capability with regards to the work you will be doing.  Through your resume, the company or the HR will see something that you are fit to the job.

In addition, you have also you reasons why you need to be hired on such a company or you want to be hired for personal growth too, and to live a normal in this ever-changing world.  This reason is also a fact that such institution is considering before hiring additional manpower.

Thus, the objective of your resume should be fair enough for the company and you.  The OBJECTIVE should goes like this:  “To develop my personal growth as well as contribute to the benefit of the company”.  Simple, yet it does have all the ingredients the company should believe.

I have been using such objective and it does give the employer and those who have the chance to read it a good impression.  It is because you will not actually working for the company alone and you  yourself alone but a vice versa situation.  You can try or you can construct such captivating objective displaying fairness in your.

Resume for Teachers

The resume should be perfect as in grammar error free.  The employer knows that in your resume displays who you are and what you could contribute to the interest of the company or institution you are applying.  This is why you need to know what should be the structure of a successful resume.

Teachers, on the other hand, should know first and foremost the best structure of resume.  You should be aware that a resume is different from that of bio-data.  The main purpose of the resume is to showcase your work experiences, educational background, capabilities and most importantly the things you can give to the benefit of the company.  On the other hand, bio-data showcase only who you are and your other personal data.  Though these two almost have the same content, their purposes are different.  This is why you need to know the best structure of resume to showcase who you are and what you can do to the company.

In the Microsoft word, there is that part where it shows such resume structure, you can follow the steps for a ready-made resume or just follow the format and modify the things you think should be modified.  If your notice, the structure and font used for the name (your name) are all in huge and readable (cool to the eyes text).  It varies only on the size of the text.

In my next post, I will discuss in detail all the things you need on every part of your resume so as for you to showcase what you have to your prospect company you will be applying.

Perfect Cover Letter Structure

Alright, the structure of your cover letter should be this way.  I know you have such articles pertaining on how cover letter should be written, yet at the end, it is still you yourself will be the one to decide whatever the your preferred structure will be.  Anyways, this is only a suggestion based on personal experiences on how cover letter should be written.  Let us follow the Modified block format of a letter, and here it goes . . . . . . .

First and foremost, the Date should be placed at the right part of the typewriting where your letter should be written.  Again, I would like to emphasize that typewriting should be the standard white as your cover letter is also a business letter and white bond paper or type writing paper should be the only typewriting to be  used.  Colored paper is a big No as these are used only on informal letters like invitation and likes.

From the Date, leave two spaces and from the left part is where you should type the addressee – the name of he  person to where your cover letter should go.  The addressee should be written in all caps format.  Under the should be the position of that person, usually, this person is the Human resource head of the department or the principal or the director, or the President.  Below the position is the address where such institution is located, this will be the physical address the institution.  You should be aware that the name, the position of the title of the addressee and the physical address should aligned with each other.  No indention should be done here.

The Greeting or Salutation should be placed two spaces after the address in the receiver or addressee.  It should be addressed as: Dear Sir or Dear Madam or Dear Ma’am.  This is why you need to determine the gender of the receiver to be particular on the Salutation.  Since your cover letter is also a business letter, you should use colon ( : ) at the end of the salutation.  After the salutation, leave one space and type your cover letter introduction.

Within the Introduction should contain your name written in bold letters to be followed by your age, course or degree and the year you’ve graduated.  I would like to suggest that after that sentence make a period.  This sentence is the main content of your cover letter. Of course you can also add your present address if you like. Leave another one space before the second paragraph.

In your second paragraph, you need to mention where did you get the information that they are in need of additional manpower and that you are highly qualified and so you are sending this cover letter.  Depending on your style, you can also enter change the introduction and the second paragraph.  This is very important as most f those huge company or institutions advertise in the newspaper, TV ads and even through the internet regarding their need for additional manpower.

The third paragraph should contain your experience in which it should be related or closely related to job you are applying.  In here must show how your contributions had made certain point in your previous job and point of experience where the company had given you certificate of appreciation because of your unusual contributions which the company had save thousands  in their expenses.

For your cover letter last paragraph should be you contact information.  That you can be contacted anytime in their convenient time.  Remember that the company or the school will be the one to set time for an interview; thus, you should be ready on this anytime.  You can write it this way: Should you feel I am qualified for the position, I can be contacted through this numbers:  000000 or through my email address:  (youremailaddress).

In the complementary close, I am using “truly yours” and not “Sincerely yours” and leave two spaces again for your signature over your printed name.

You should be aware that a cover letter should in one page type writing only.  Two pages cover letter is big no as you will surely bore the reader of your cover letter.

Format of Cover Letter for Teachers

You should be aware that the format of a cover letter for teachers is different from those of the other careers.  In here, there are things a teacher should emphasize because of the fact that a teacher portrays one the perfect if not the most ideal personality among others.  This is why a cover letter for teachers should be very well crafted to the extent that there should be no misleading phrase presented in the body of the cover letter.

Be aware also on the letter formats you will be using, that you should follow the rules indicated in every format.  Though these formats are easy to follow, these are taken for granted because the computer through the MSword which suggest format most of the timemislead the real thing for the cover letter.  We have only three letter formats and you can use all these formats for your cover letter.

You should be aware that in the modified block format, the date and the salutation should be with the same number of tabs, though you can reduce the tab on the salutation if you name is too long not to fit in the specified location.  More so, the date and the salutation should have the same tab no matter what.

With regards to the name of the receiver who is most of the time the Principal or the Director of the School or the HR for huge colleges and universities, you should always address your cover letter to the highest person of such institution, most of the time, the President or the Director.  Your cover letter should be coursed through the HR and should be given to the HR for comment and recommendation for the President or the Director after such evaluations.

As stated above, this is the channels your cover letter will be passing through before you will be shortlisted or not.  And, this is the main reason why such cover letter should be perfectly crafted too.  I will discuss the body of your cover letter for teachers in next posts.

Cover Letter for Teachers

I consider cover letter as business letter because this pertains to selling yourself to the company you wanted to be hired.  This is how important cover letter is when it comes to applying for a job.  That your cover letter should be well-written grammar-free letter not only to impress the person who will read it but for you to be shortlisted on the list of qualified applicant for a certain job.  A teacher, in particular, should have a cover letter perfectly written not only to impress the reader but because they are teachers and the fact that teachers should be perfect at all time not only in the classroom but also within community.

As a motivating factor for the reader of your cover letter to proceed on the résumé is the main function of the cover letter.  We all know that the résumé contains all the data for you to be qualified for a certain job because in here is written the assets the company would take when they decided to hire you.

This is why it is not only the cover letter that you should think of but also of your résumé.  Your cover letter and résumé should go together, blend together and that the message you want to convey in the cover letter should be seen in the résumé.

The cover letter is actually a summary of your résumé, a brief and concise description of the content of the résumé selling your personality, knowledge on the job, efficiency, work ethics and the benefits you can contribute for the sake of the company.

Shifting Career and Job Preferences

Shifting Career and Job Preferences may seem easy but it is not as there are lots of things to be considered.  First and foremost is the availability of the job in the market and the competition or the number of manpower currently into this career.  You know, this is actually the problem of students who enrolled in colleges.  They prefer the course which more of them enrolled and don’t see what they really will be after college.

Though there are lots of jobs in the the market, there are specific skill you need to master to be qualified later.  In relation to shifting career, you may not know it but your course is tasked to mold you to become a multi-professional not only on a specific field but to some minor skills needed in the job market.

You know, I’ve seen this scenario before I enrolled in college and before I decided to take up education.  You see, in may place, most if not all of the schools, universities and colleges are dominated by female teachers.  This helped me decided because we all know that in a certain field there should be a balance from both male and female when it come to opportunities and education is not excluded in the market of opportunities.

Though I am not in the teaching field anymore, I got the chance exercise my course.  It so happen that another opportunity arrived and it promises better career and professional growth and so I decided to quit teaching.  But of course, once a teacher always a teacher, and it is true because I am still utilizing using my skills as teacher in my current job.

This is actually the  reason why I decided to write this post, that when it comes to shifting career and job preference, you need to have at least enough knowledge on the possible replacement job you are going to grab.  It so happen, I got another skill which took me to be one the qualified personnel to handle the job.  So what now, before you decided to shift for another career, search yourselves on your other abilities and capabilities.

Job abroad found via local search

There are actually some individuals in the locality offering job abroad.  This is by way of representing an agency which works on a job abroad basis.  In fact, these individuals can be easily spotted in the local community through rumors or word of mouth and some traditional advertising.

Of course, I am not suggesting you to immediately apply for the job, but if you are interested in such an opportunity, you need to make sure that the person dealing business with you or the agency they represent is authentic and not just working and convincing ambitious persons for the sake of money.

It is much better if you personally and locally knew the person offering a job, if not I think you need to make some inquiries not only about the person him or herself but on the authenticity of the job and of the agency they are representing.  You can easily determine such case by going in the local government municipality or to the higher government agency which manages such work abroad cases.  It’s not bad to apply for a work abroad in the local community as long as the person or their claims are true and that they are authentic.

There are actually lots of local jobs to choose from and I am positive you can get one particularly if you not choosy on the types of job available.  Of course, you need to consider the possible expenses when you start working, that the expenses enough for your to make some savings.

Tutor – a local job for teachers

Tutoring young kids is one of the best jobs you can get in the locality.  This job is easy to search because you can easily spot who among in the community the parent who have children enrolled in prep, elementary and high school or even in college if you can handle such subject the student want to be tutored in.

But let us just focus on youngsters for now.  In you local job search for a tutor, spot those parents who are both working and almost don’t have time for their kids to help them do their assignments.  For sure, the parents will be very happy to know that you can help their kids not only in doing the assignments but most especially for their kids to learn the subject in advance. It is not only those parents who have slow learner kids are looking for a tutor, even those parents with gifted child are looking for a tutor too.  The reason is the same, they want their kids to learn better.

The good thing when it comes to this tutoring job is that you don’t need to be a teacher to have the job.  As long as you know how to teach and most especially familiar on the subject matter, you can be a good tutor.  Of course, you need to show and the parents to see your capability on the matter.

Another good thing in tutoring is that you don’t need to focus on one kid per day basis but you can have 2 to 5 kids depending on the availability of your time.  But of course, you can tutor five kids in one time.  And mind you tutors, you don’t need to tutor for a long hours because tutoring is just for an hour or two only.  This means, you can tutor as long as you want and as many children as you like.

The pay is good too.  You can have daily, weekly or monthly basis depending on the agreement you can make with the parents.  Can you calculate how much money you can earn by tutoring?  I’ll bet.

Why search job abroad when you can get it in the locality

Yes, there are actually lots of jobs in the locality waiting to be filled up.  These jobs may not offer huge salaries but you have your family beside you immediately after a hard days work.  Working outside your country is one of the hardest part you need to decide on.  The compensation is good and promising, but you will be there alone working.  Unless, of course, if you have applied for a work abroad family status.

But as mentioned in the previous post, search those local jobs that fit your qualifications or those local jobs that requires only an hour or a couple of hours work.  Though the salary is not that huge when you work within your locality, you may not know it, but the compensations are also based on the standard of living in such locality.  This means you are also able to bridge the financial gap of the family and that you can save some for the future use too.

You know, spending depends on how much you earn.  You need to be aware of this.  Most of those individuals who are under financial stability spend more than they are earning in a day.  If in any case, your spending will not exceed your daily wage, you will surely have a good life.  Contentment is the key.

So before you search job in the government abroad and to have a work abroad which offer huge salaries, yet you will be far from the reason why you need a work, think twice, and search those local jobs first.  There’s no place like home and working and that your family is at home when you get home after a hard day work is worth more than the money you will earn.
