Online Language Teaching

27 Jan

The job market for online language teachers is becoming popular these days.  It not that they have availed the advertisement from Google, but individuals who want to learn English especially to the non-English speaking countries.  Obviously, this type of job for teachers is not in a permanent status , but just only a part time job.

I have an article written by an Educator who had tried this type of niche.  Thought the website did not offer paid services, interested student just come and go and you don’t know when will they come back after they logout.

Teaching online, though it is good for other, but to most of the non-native English speakers they will find this one on one online teaching harder than the normal classroom situation.  Only those in the advance stage English language learners could be able to understand the lesson. The ways I see it, the benefits fall more on the teacher because the student will only ask question to be answered, of course, again and again, thereby letting the hours pass in no time.

One best thing to consider on this type of teaching job also is that you need a fast computer and fast internet connection for you to be heard.  In addition to text chatting, you will for sure speak over the microphone while your student is watching on cam.  This will obviously occur especially when you come up to pronunciation lesson.  This will be another problem because your pronunciation and that of your student vary because of the both mother tongue.

There are other problems that will arise during the learning process and as the first website I’ve seen online, most of the students decided to drop the class and refund the corresponding payment.
