Cover Letter for Teachers

I consider cover letter as business letter because this pertains to selling yourself to the company you wanted to be hired.  This is how important cover letter is when it comes to applying for a job.  That your cover letter should be well-written grammar-free letter not only to impress the person who will read it but for you to be shortlisted on the list of qualified applicant for a certain job.  A teacher, in particular, should have a cover letter perfectly written not only to impress the reader but because they are teachers and the fact that teachers should be perfect at all time not only in the classroom but also within community.

As a motivating factor for the reader of your cover letter to proceed on the résumé is the main function of the cover letter.  We all know that the résumé contains all the data for you to be qualified for a certain job because in here is written the assets the company would take when they decided to hire you.

This is why it is not only the cover letter that you should think of but also of your résumé.  Your cover letter and résumé should go together, blend together and that the message you want to convey in the cover letter should be seen in the résumé.

The cover letter is actually a summary of your résumé, a brief and concise description of the content of the résumé selling your personality, knowledge on the job, efficiency, work ethics and the benefits you can contribute for the sake of the company.

For the teachers who have the chance to read this post, I know and I am very much aware of the contents of this particularly post where I wrote a sample application or cover letter for teachers.  Thanks for the comments though, but if you only knew the reason why I created this blog, you might as well end up blogging.

Shifting Career and Job Preferences

Shifting Career and Job Preferences may seem easy but it is not as there are lots of things to be considered.  First and foremost is the availability of the job in the market and the competition or the number of manpower currently into this career.  You know, this is actually the problem of students who enrolled in colleges.  They prefer the course which more of them enrolled and don’t see what they really will be after college.

Though there are lots of jobs in the the market, there are specific skill you need to master to be qualified later.  In relation to shifting career, you may not know it but your course is tasked to mold you to become a multi-professional not only on a specific field but to some minor skills needed in the job market.

You know, I’ve seen this scenario before I enrolled in college and before I decided to take up education.  You see, in may place, most if not all of the schools, universities and colleges are dominated by female teachers.  This helped me decided because we all know that in a certain field there should be a balance from both male and female when it come to opportunities and education is not excluded in the market of opportunities.

Though I am not in the teaching field anymore, I got the chance exercise my course.  It so happen that another opportunity arrived and it promises better career and professional growth and so I decided to quit teaching.  But of course, once a teacher always a teacher, and it is true because I am still utilizing using my skills as teacher in my current job.

This is actually the  reason why I decided to write this post, that when it comes to shifting career and job preference, you need to have at least enough knowledge on the possible replacement job you are going to grab.  It so happen, I got another skill which took me to be one the qualified personnel to handle the job.  So what now, before you decided to shift for another career, search yourselves on your other abilities and capabilities.

Job abroad found via local search

There are actually some individuals in the locality offering job abroad.  This is by way of representing an agency which works on a job abroad basis.  In fact, these individuals can be easily spotted in the local community through rumors or word of mouth and some traditional advertising.

Of course, I am not suggesting you to immediately apply for the job, but if you are interested in such an opportunity, you need to make sure that the person dealing business with you or the agency they represent is authentic and not just working and convincing ambitious persons for the sake of money.

It is much better if you personally and locally knew the person offering a job, if not I think you need to make some inquiries not only about the person him or herself but on the authenticity of the job and of the agency they are representing.  You can easily determine such case by going in the local government municipality or to the higher government agency which manages such work abroad cases.  It’s not bad to apply for a work abroad in the local community as long as the person or their claims are true and that they are authentic.

There are actually lots of local jobs to choose from and I am positive you can get one particularly if you not choosy on the types of job available.  Of course, you need to consider the possible expenses when you start working, that the expenses enough for your to make some savings.

Disadvantage on Local Job Search

There’s always a disadvantage on the part that you think you weighted and decided that it was the best move.  I happen to found on my local job search a job I am employed at the moment.  The good thing is that I just received my permanent appointment.  Mind you people, this is a government job and I am now a regular government employee.

I am a professional teacher and passed the Board Examination for Teachers, and I had the chance to practice my teaching career for almost 3  years.  During those days, I have seen my situation that it will take me 5 to 8 years before I will be hired as a regular government employee as teacher.  A friend of mine who is also a teacher took 12 years before she received his regular appointment.  In my present job (not a teacher), it took me only 1 year and half.  I guess you will do the same too, if given the opportunity.

Today, I am aiming for a higher position which I am qualified, but for the next supervisory position, I need to have a higher educational background.  Yes, I am planning to enroll for a Masters Degree.  Of course, I am not disregarding other opportunities outside my present job.  I am also targeting opportunities outside the government.  And so, again, I decided to take Master in Business Administration which my course is not in line with it.

I should be enrolling for this coming semester, but since my course is not inline with business administration, I was advised to take first the tool courses composed of 18 units.  This is equivalent for 1 loaded semester.  You see, I am late for the next promotion.

You might not agree with my views on this matter but I did not see this during my search for a local job.  I should have chosen a job inline with my course, but the opportunity is good and tempting and I grabbed it.  Well, “I am lucky,” you’ll say, yes, I am because am able to grab through local job search an opportunity that promises a lifetime benefit.

I view this a disadvantage on my part because my competitors are way ahead of me in the promotion, but I still consider my self lucky as I was hired again and became a regular government employee.

Tutor – a local job for teachers

Tutoring young kids is one of the best jobs you can get in the locality.  This job is easy to search because you can easily spot who among in the community the parent who have children enrolled in prep, elementary and high school or even in college if you can handle such subject the student want to be tutored in.

But let us just focus on youngsters for now.  In you local job search for a tutor, spot those parents who are both working and almost don’t have time for their kids to help them do their assignments.  For sure, the parents will be very happy to know that you can help their kids not only in doing the assignments but most especially for their kids to learn the subject in advance. It is not only those parents who have slow learner kids are looking for a tutor, even those parents with gifted child are looking for a tutor too.  The reason is the same, they want their kids to learn better.

The good thing when it comes to this tutoring job is that you don’t need to be a teacher to have the job.  As long as you know how to teach and most especially familiar on the subject matter, you can be a good tutor.  Of course, you need to show and the parents to see your capability on the matter.

Another good thing in tutoring is that you don’t need to focus on one kid per day basis but you can have 2 to 5 kids depending on the availability of your time.  But of course, you can tutor five kids in one time.  And mind you tutors, you don’t need to tutor for a long hours because tutoring is just for an hour or two only.  This means, you can tutor as long as you want and as many children as you like.

The pay is good too.  You can have daily, weekly or monthly basis depending on the agreement you can make with the parents.  Can you calculate how much money you can earn by tutoring?  I’ll bet.

A good start for a local job search

This month is a good start for you to search local jobs.  Do not wait and waste another time.  If you really need a job, you can have it in the locality.  Local jobs need not to be done on a daily basis, depending on the work, you can propose a contract for a week, three days, or even a day for a particular local job.  Of course, you can make daily or monthly basis depending on your capacity and knowledge on the job.

Most of the local jobs available in the neighborhood requires only a bit of your time and depending on the job, there are that pays much and others are cheap.  It is cheap in way that the job requires only a bit of your time and that the employer doesn’t have time to do the job.  Example of these job are tilling the garden, trimming the lawn or just as simple as cleaning the backyard.  These type of jobs are obviously easy and it pays not that high but depending on how you will deal the employer and how you will perform the job, maybe you will be given extra bonus for a job well done.

These local jobs are also one of the best diversions while waiting for a call from those real day jobs you’ve applied.  Making your life productive is far better that just sitting like duck and waiting for a thing you are not sure if you will be called or not.  It is very hard to wait because it seems time runs slowly when we are waiting for something.  Only those local jobs could make your boring waiting moments to be quenched.

Go outside and search those local jobs waiting to be done and make your life productive this 2011.

Why search job abroad when you can get it in the locality

Yes, there are actually lots of jobs in the locality waiting to be filled up.  These jobs may not offer huge salaries but you have your family beside you immediately after a hard days work.  Working outside your country is one of the hardest part you need to decide on.  The compensation is good and promising, but you will be there alone working.  Unless, of course, if you have applied for a work abroad family status.

But as mentioned in the previous post, search those local jobs that fit your qualifications or those local jobs that requires only an hour or a couple of hours work.  Though the salary is not that huge when you work within your locality, you may not know it, but the compensations are also based on the standard of living in such locality.  This means you are also able to bridge the financial gap of the family and that you can save some for the future use too.

You know, spending depends on how much you earn.  You need to be aware of this.  Most of those individuals who are under financial stability spend more than they are earning in a day.  If in any case, your spending will not exceed your daily wage, you will surely have a good life.  Contentment is the key.

So before you search job in the government abroad and to have a work abroad which offer huge salaries, yet you will be far from the reason why you need a work, think twice, and search those local jobs first.  There’s no place like home and working and that your family is at home when you get home after a hard day work is worth more than the money you will earn.

Your Local Job Search Information

I had explained in the previous posts how you should search the authenticity of a job posted not only in the government job posting websites but also to those website whose main effort is to inform there audience on job opportunities.  I had reviewed those posts and found out I had taken for granted those jobs which are waiting for the right applicant.  You might not noticed it, but the job you are searching is just there in your locality.

The power of the internet had made us look for a decent job while we are at home, we no longer need to go out to hunt a job because there are lots of websites giving information about local jobs already in the neighborhood waiting for you to apply in.  Some of these jobs might not or had been already posted through the internet, but since this is a local job, I would like to suggest you go around the locality and personally search for these jobs.

Most often than not, these types of local jobs do not require full time work as most of it are part time jobs.  We all know that everyone are rushing for work or for something which gives no time for the homeowner to trim their plants or even cultivate their gardens, or even clean the house.

While waiting for the main job you have applied, doing these local jobs will surely give you additional income that could be utilize later in your application for a better job.  You see, all you need is to search for those homeowners searching for a particular service. Or, better yet, search for a homeowner who you think you can offer your service to them in any way for a cheap price, an hour or two work will be good.  This is for you to have time to search for another house and offer you service again.  Could you imagine how much you will earn from these local jobs by working only for a minimal hour?

Religious Communities offer Job for Teachers

That is correct!  Aside form government job search where you will be hunting for a job for teachers, religious communities are also one of the best job websites where you can search for a teacher job.  Religious communities, even before, had developed a program, an educational program not only for their teacher member but most importantly to reach other other communities outside their countries to spread the word of God.

This program had opened another opportunities not only for teacher but also to all individuals who knew how to teach English as the second language of this non-English speaking countries.  First and foremost, this is legal.  Religious communities can sponsor the qualified applicants to teach in a particular community.

The offer, actually, is good as they provide also good and convenient accommodation including health and insurance services, plus incentives like round trip tickets when you are through with the contract.  Of course, a contract is always there for the benefit of both parties.

This offer actually is also included in government job websites.  When searching in a government job websites, search for those opportunities being offered by religious communities.  Well, you have to be aware that you should be familiar also on the religion. Most of the time, you need to become one on their members too, before you will be shortlisted.

One the good characteristics when it comes to religion is that they push up there members who have potentials not only for personal development but to reach other people in spreading the Gospel.

Search Teacher Job at Government Job Sites

In the government job database, there are lots of available jobs posted for you and it doesn’t mean you are not a teacher you are no longer able to apply for a teacher job.  of course, you have more edge if you are a teacher.  But you may not know it, collecting your qualifications, merits and awards and skills and search for a teacher job on government job website their will be jobs suited for you.

I have a friend who is currently working outside the country and her job is teaching, but she is not actually a teacher but  had qualified for the requirement to be a teacher in that particular school.  She is currently teaching high school students with the subject Science.

My friend actually is a graduate of Nursing and had passed the government professional commission which one of her qualifications for her to fit for a teacher job abroad.  This means, you too are able to grab such teacher job in the government job websites.  Just search the database of jobs and surely you will find one which is almost if not exactly suited for your qualifications.

In some of part Asia, their government is hiring teachers whether you are really a teacher or not, but as long as you qualify to their qualification standards you will be chosen to be one of their faculty.  I would like to reiterate that you need to search, though the job is posted on a government job site, do not just relay on it, instead, search more for the authenticity of the job too.  While you search, you will surely find the possible entry point to migrate or a way to go abroad to work for a teacher job.
