jack of all trades, master of none

“Jack of all trades, master of none” is a figure of speech used in reference to a person that is competent with many skills but is not necessarily outstanding in any particular one according to wikipedia.org.

On the lighter view of this type of person, he or she really knows something and surely can fix things in case of emergencies.  It is almost the same with first aid, that an immediate action should be done to prevent the wound from infections or other occurrences that will make the wounded suffer.

On the hand, persons with such abilities tend to have the capacity to live in a survival stage as they are equipped with basic knowledge on how to deal uncertainties that come along the way.  This is the reason why this figure of speech has become popular because of the things it emphasized.

Obviously, jack of all trades, master of none individuals had encountered lots of experiences in life.  They had learn to handle many things but doesn’t have the capacity to master it obviously because they lack the sufficient knowledge to master particular situations.  For this reason, we can also emphasized that “experience is the best teacher” as an obvious result that “jack of all trades, master of none” individuals have first hand experience of things and so they became familiar with it.

Technical skills like driving, woodworking, painting, drawing sketches and the likes could be easily learned through experiences and surely, this skills could honed up further if given the opportunity to have academic knowledge or formal training.  Only when a person gained outstanding performance on a particular situation will be entitled to a master.

In the world, there are lots of this type of persons and few of the people had mastered or proficient in terms of master  per se.  Who is better then, a person with a master or a person with multiple skills or can we say that a person with master is also a person with multiple skills?

Parents are the Best Teacher

Home is the best School.  The school is just the second place where these innate talents will be honed and to develop a buy product which will be created while the learner explores the world within the four corners of the room.  But this does not mean the teacher has all the responsibilities to make all these knowledge acquiring schemes for our children.

According to studies, no one among the number of learners in a classroom has the same  behavioral characteristics, there are similarities but obviously, the learners differ on how each of them acquire the knowledge being imparted.  This actually had been addressed by the system by formulating strategies to make sure the lesson or subject being discussed will be explained and absorbed by the learner.

The home as the first place for the learner to discover things around him openly had dictated in addition to his innate attributes the holistic personality before entering formal education.  This stage of learning acquisition is actually one of the crucial stages for a learner in developing his or her capability and learning readiness in the formal schooling.

In this connection, not all parents have the capability and capacity on how their children should be taught.  But they don’t have the choice but to go with the normal and natural way of letting their kids openly learn the things around them which in return will hamper the learner to advance during pre-school and elementary schooling.

Teach Your Children Well

Every teacher wants his/her students to learn and understand what the lesson is all about including the values to be applied later in their daily lives.  But students are not born the same and some will be lost in a broad day light.  This is actually the real situation encountered in their daily teaching life.  I am teacher and familiar with all those things teachers and students situation inside and outside the classroom.

No one among the teachers would like to see their students to be left behind.  You will feel you are very much affected particularly if you have the chance to be the adviser of these students who do not know yet the real essence of of the world, the environment and life they will get into when they mature.

Job Site for Teachers

I tried to browse available teachers job over google and there are 294,000,000 results appearing which took me to write something on this matter.  I was alarmed on the result more and more teachers wanted to have a teaching job not only in their locality but also a teaching job overseas.

Some if not more of these job sites offering a teaching job are not authentic website for such purpose.  This is because there are other motives being implemented within the website and only the “job for teachers” per se is utilized for the real purpose of the website offering or have posted job for teachers.

A while ago, before writing this article, I google “Australia job for teachers” and I was struck by a website with good appearance and has promising results, but when browse deeper on that website, I was instructed to create an account first without telling exactly the real point on the job I want to see.

Another fact is that when I searched who owns the website, I was, again, alarmed because the owner is not from Australia, but from other country far from Australia.  Now, how then can you say or prove that this website is pure and authentic in its purpose of offering a teaching job in Australia?  Obviously not.  Beware on these type of websites.

The only person or website who can say about job vacancies in such a country are those individuals or websites created specifically for that matter and the website owner should come from that country where the job is being offered.  If not, I strongly suggest you refrain from creating an account on these websites.

It is very easy for you to know and determine this issue.  Just click this WHO IS link and type the address or the URL of the website in the box and click submit.  You will be prompted on the details of such website.  Unless if the website owner doesn’t want to broadcast his/her whereabouts, then the more you should not create an account.  click and try the link to see what I am trying to tell you here.

Resume for Teachers displays something beyond

Most of the time when we are applying for a job whether it be online or just at the nearby school who are looking for additional teachers, we provide a cover letter of the resume.  It is true, that the cover letter could motivate the reader or the Principal or the HR, as a teacher, your resume counts most because in here is displayed the real essence the person applying for a teacher job.

In the resume, any one who will look in it will determine how equipped, dynamic and intelligent a teacher in the teaching field will be, and the resume too, will be the determinant if you will be shortlist and be called later.  This is why you need to look beyond what is really being emphasized in your resume.  Check the personality you want the principal to see, whom most of the time is the person in-charge on deciding on such hiring additional teachers of the school.

If you are not that familiar in developing and formulating a good and impressive resume, I would like to suggest you share this problem to your friends who is also a teacher especially the English teacher as this person is very much aware on sentences you may construct and most importantly, the personality your resume will display when read.

Today, almost all if not all of those public and private institutions whether it be in the education or in the business sector, resume is being required.  This only proves that a resume is such an important paper because in here the employer will determine if you are qualified for the position you are applying or not.

Teacher Factor?

How easy for everyone to say it is teacher factor when a student or a class failed to reach the real score.  With a class composed of 50 students (high school), a teacher could easily impart and explain the lesson of the day most especially if you are handling the first section or the star section where all the students are marked with high average learning skills.  But with the same number of students in class in the lowest section composed of slow learners and those students fall on the below category, I don’t think a lesson will be done in three days.  Which is which, a teacher could easily finish the lesson for the day whatever the case may be, but the question lies how the students digest the lesson in such a fast pace.

Elementary students, on the other hand is another story as, obviously, the behavior and learning capabilities of students are being considered.  I am a high school teacher and I can best explain my views focusing on high school situation.  I have handled classes composed of fifty (50) student in a class of different learning capabilities, from the lowest section up the star or highest section.

Those teachers (in profession) who does not have the chance to encounter a real classroom situation may easily point out and brags the community that it is a teacher factor when someone failed to pass a particular subject without considering other factors which affects the learning capability of such student.

It is ironic to know that another program is being devised to address this issue (teacher factor) without considering others factors affecting the teaching-learning situation.  It seems that only the classroom teacher knew that the learning environment plays a big role in knowledge acquisition includes the facilities and of course the teachers, who currently is being deprived from his own rights in the teaching field.

Another obvious problem in the educational system is education itself because of the fact that education is one of the most profitable business a businessman could venture nowadays.  This caused the authorities in the education system not to monitor what is being offered.  Don’t get me wrong here, in colleges and universities the course being offered are not complaint on the need of the country to uplift its continually growing poverty issues which is also another factor that goes beyond this “teacher factor issue.”

I guess, I need to stop here as I might proceed to another topic outside education.  Long live the TEACHERS!

Resume for Teachers : “OBJECTIVE”

The objective in your resume should contain the most easy yet captivating words.  Obviously, directly mentioning you could be of great help and an asset to the company is no longer a strong objective.  You should be fair enough in your objective.  The company you are apply will hire you because of your ability and capability with regards to the work you will be doing.  Through your resume, the company or the HR will see something that you are fit to the job.

In addition, you have also you reasons why you need to be hired on such a company or you want to be hired for personal growth too, and to live a normal in this ever-changing world.  This reason is also a fact that such institution is considering before hiring additional manpower.

Thus, the objective of your resume should be fair enough for the company and you.  The OBJECTIVE should goes like this:  “To develop my personal growth as well as contribute to the benefit of the company”.  Simple, yet it does have all the ingredients the company should believe.

I have been using such objective and it does give the employer and those who have the chance to read it a good impression.  It is because you will not actually working for the company alone and you  yourself alone but a vice versa situation.  You can try or you can construct such captivating objective displaying fairness in your.

Resume for Teachers

The resume should be perfect as in grammar error free.  The employer knows that in your resume displays who you are and what you could contribute to the interest of the company or institution you are applying.  This is why you need to know what should be the structure of a successful resume.

Teachers, on the other hand, should know first and foremost the best structure of resume.  You should be aware that a resume is different from that of bio-data.  The main purpose of the resume is to showcase your work experiences, educational background, capabilities and most importantly the things you can give to the benefit of the company.  On the other hand, bio-data showcase only who you are and your other personal data.  Though these two almost have the same content, their purposes are different.  This is why you need to know the best structure of resume to showcase who you are and what you can do to the company.

In the Microsoft word, there is that part where it shows such resume structure, you can follow the steps for a ready-made resume or just follow the format and modify the things you think should be modified.  If your notice, the structure and font used for the name (your name) are all in huge and readable (cool to the eyes text).  It varies only on the size of the text.

Perfect Cover Letter Structure

Alright, the structure of your cover letter should be this way.  I know you have such articles pertaining on how cover letter should be written, yet at the end, it is still you yourself will be the one to decide whatever the your preferred structure will be.  Anyways, this is only a suggestion based on personal experiences on how cover letter should be written.  Let us follow the Modified block format of a letter, and here it goes . . . . . . .

First and foremost, the Date should be placed at the right part of the typewriting where your letter should be written.  Again, I would like to emphasize that typewriting should be the standard white as your cover letter is also a business letter and white bond paper or type writing paper should be the only typewriting to be  used.  Colored paper is a big No as these are used only on informal letters like invitation and likes.

From the Date, leave two spaces and from the left part is where you should type the addressee – the name of he  person to where your cover letter should go.  The addressee should be written in all caps format.  Under the should be the position of that person, usually, this person is the Human resource head of the department or the principal or the director, or the President.  Below the position is the address where such institution is located, this will be the physical address the institution.  You should be aware that the name, the position of the title of the addressee and the physical address should aligned with each other.  No indention should be done here.

The Greeting or Salutation should be placed two spaces after the address in the receiver or addressee.  It should be addressed as: Dear Sir or Dear Madam or Dear Ma’am.  This is why you need to determine the gender of the receiver to be particular on the Salutation.  Since your cover letter is also a business letter, you should use colon ( : ) at the end of the salutation.  After the salutation, leave one space and type your cover letter introduction.

Within the Introduction should contain your name written in bold letters to be followed by your age, course or degree and the year you’ve graduated.  I would like to suggest that after that sentence make a period.  This sentence is the main content of your cover letter. Of course you can also add your present address if you like. Leave another one space before the second paragraph.

In your second paragraph, you need to mention where did you get the information that they are in need of additional manpower and that you are highly qualified and so you are sending this cover letter.  Depending on your style, you can also enter change the introduction and the second paragraph.  This is very important as most f those huge company or institutions advertise in the newspaper, TV ads and even through the internet regarding their need for additional manpower.

The third paragraph should contain your experience in which it should be related or closely related to job you are applying.  In here must show how your contributions had made certain point in your previous job and point of experience where the company had given you certificate of appreciation because of your unusual contributions which the company had save thousands  in their expenses.

For your cover letter last paragraph should be you contact information.  That you can be contacted anytime in their convenient time.  Remember that the company or the school will be the one to set time for an interview; thus, you should be ready on this anytime.  You can write it this way: Should you feel I am qualified for the position, I can be contacted through this numbers:  000000 or through my email address:  (youremailaddress).

In the complementary close, I am using “truly yours” and not “Sincerely yours” and leave two spaces again for your signature over your printed name.

You should be aware that a cover letter should in one page type writing only.  Two pages cover letter is big no as you will surely bore the reader of your cover letter.

Format of Cover Letter for Teachers

You should be aware that the format of a cover letter for teachers is different from those of the other careers.  In here, there are things a teacher should emphasize because of the fact that a teacher portrays one the perfect if not the most ideal personality among others.  This is why a cover letter for teachers should be very well crafted to the extent that there should be no misleading phrase presented in the body of the cover letter.

Be aware also on the letter formats you will be using, that you should follow the rules indicated in every format.  Though these formats are easy to follow, these are taken for granted because the computer through the MSword which suggest format most of the timemislead the real thing for the cover letter.  We have only three letter formats and you can use all these formats for your cover letter.

You should be aware that in the modified block format, the date and the salutation should be with the same number of tabs, though you can reduce the tab on the salutation if you name is too long not to fit in the specified location.  More so, the date and the salutation should have the same tab no matter what.

With regards to the name of the receiver who is most of the time the Principal or the Director of the School or the HR for huge colleges and universities, you should always address your cover letter to the highest person of such institution, most of the time, the President or the Director.  Your cover letter should be coursed through the HR and should be given to the HR for comment and recommendation for the President or the Director after such evaluations.

As stated above, this is the channels your cover letter will be passing through before you will be shortlisted or not.  And, this is the main reason why such cover letter should be perfectly crafted too.  I will discuss the body of your cover letter for teachers in next posts.
