Trending Teacher Career

Do you know why teaching is one of the most in demand and demanding job throughout the world? Obviously because of the responsibilities on our shoulders termed as the future mobilizers of the next generations and since population continue to increase, schools are being built by the government including private sectors.

This has motivated other professionals to jibe in the teaching field as they see this is the only job that can offer them stable and sustainable income, plus the benefits and another retirement benefits when you get there. And you know what?  These professionals need only sometime to be qualified for a teacher job.

Moreover, other teaching institutions do not require further education.  As long as the applicant teacher has an experience in the work field and is a graduate of baccalaureate degree, he or she is being hired for a teacher job.  But other professional who intends to really make teaching a long lasting career enroll principles and foundations of education for them be able to qualify for the licensure examination for teachers.  Thus, making then a fully qualified teacher.

A nurse, for example, can be a good biology teacher and at the same time the school nurse who will be nursing some of the incidental bruises of the youngsters.  This teacher could also be one of the models of the students as a successful professional in his or her chosen career.

It is a fact that those who are not in the teaching field seek a teacher job and they are willing to even enroll for the needed units to become a fully qualified teacher.  If this happens, some of the major subjects will be no longer be given and taught by those teachers with such majors.  An engineer can obviously teach the basic and advance math.  You know what I mean.

But the same with teachers who are shifting to another career, they too have an advantage over their counter part.  One thing you need to do whatever job you will get into, do you best and make yourself a blessing to others as we have only  couple days in this world.

What is career alternative especially for teachers?

Alternative careers or alternative jobs especially for teachers are those jobs suited particularly for teachers.  This emphasized that there are lots of jobs for teachers waiting for them.  It so happen that after the academics years, everyone not only those who just graduated for education wanted to practice their own acquired skill and knowledge.  Of course, this should be but the fact that not all of these teachers will have the chance to practice their careers after graduation, more of these teachers seek another career they think is suited for their qualifications.  As I keep stating in this blog, all of the degree holders have the capacity to handle such jobs, but teacher, on the other hand, have more opportunities compared to those of the other careers on the land.

The only problem is that newly graduate and seasoned teachers who wanted to shift for an alternative job do not know what particularly job they will be hunting and applying later.  This is because they are expecting the same salary grade or higher for that matter.  This should not be since this will be a new career, the salary grade will obviously lower compared to that of the teacher.  Of course, this also depends on the alternative job you will be looking.  The higher the salary grade, the more competition and number of applicants having different degree will be your rivals in such position.

Applying to become a police or firefighter, for example, needs you to undergo rigid training which later is a sure hit for higher salary grade for a teacher.  But choosing alternative jobs lower that the responsibilities of this type of job will begets a lower salary grade in return.

It is very important to consider alternative job for teachers.  A teacher and friend of mind shifted to another career but not outside the teaching field but still within the school.  Only the salary grade is lower because the teacher chooses t become an ordinary clerk in the school – handling all those paper works and other liaison matters pertaining to teachers account payable and receivables.

The job is obviously more easier compared to teaching but she no longer interested to teach.  The last we have the chance to speak with each other, she told me she is happier today because she has now more time with her family.  Isn’t that more worthy? She told and we parted ways.

Career Alternatives for Teachers

The first and foremost reason why people change their careers is the opportunity offered by the alternative job seen.  The most obvious reason is the salary which is seconded by the opportunity when it comes to professional growth.  Whatever your line of expertise, I am sure, you will choose the job that offers professional growth.

But most of us do not see such professional growth unless we will have the chance to work in that institution first.  Well, this should not be the case as you can have a birds eye view in a certain company or institution where you have a friend or relative working in that institution.  You can ask then, of course, the nature of the job, how old most the employees working there, and the likes.  Do not ask about salary as you will not be given exact answer for this.

There are other factors too for you to see if there is a possible career advancement on a certain institution.  I guess, you can determine the capability or the status of such company you are planning to seek alternative job.  These are companies that are already there and had been in the business for a long time already.  Example of this companies are those which are able to go with the recent recession.

I don’t need to name names here as I know you have in your own mind a company who had survived that huge tidal wave in the business sector and still these companies seem nothing had happened to them as they had recovered already for sure.  This are concrete example of companies who are now considered institution because of their contribution not only in the business sector but most importantly their service had reached the real market that made them still existing even these days and surely, these companiess will still exist for the couple of decades or even more.

If you are searching for alternative career, I would like to suggest you scout these types of companies first.  I am sure there is always a place for a teacher in these companies/institutions.  Of course, better yet if you will have the chance to get another job in the government as government jobs are the most stable among those careers you are eying.  Do not just shift until you are decided and seen possible career growth as there are also obstacles along the way of these alternative jobs.

Places to find suitable job for teachers

Teacher is really one whole of a person.  The skills that had been developed and mastered in the academic years molded them to be one of kind individual who can manage almost all of the problems on earth.  LOL.  In fact, this is actually one of the connotation being built up within a learners’ thoughts as the learner become engrossed with the teacher’s way of showing concerns to his or her students.

This factor is one of the most special qualifications a teacher possesses compared to other disciplines.  This is also one of the factor qualification being searched as it is needed for a special job in the less fortunate communities.   This job is a social working job where teachers have the capacity and ability to handle such social workers job.

In fact, in some part of the world, teachers are being hired as social workers to care and teach those less fortunate individual in the depressed areas.  These teachers usually are sharing and teaching other ways on how these unfortunate individuals will handle their problems, to learn something in a livelihood program or just by rendering counseling.

Lucky for you teachers as there are lots of social working job available in your area and all you have to do is visit the place or the social worker department and search for places you are suitable to render social working jobs.  Just like teacher, a social worker is just a bit different, plus the fact that you will be handling less the number of learners compared to the number of students in the classroom.

Working as a social worker is not an easy job actually, but this will be a lift of your career as a teacher later, you will not become a social worker by career.  Because the next time you will apply for a teaching job, the panel or the head of the school will see that your concern for the students is unique and vital than you can even work harder for the sake of your students.

So, check out that department concerned on this job to see the number or places you can have a social working job in your area.  Working far from your place, I think will be a challenge.  I guess, you need also to prepare your resume or your application letter before going there as I am positive that while you search, you will see lots of jobs suited for your skills.

Promising Alternative Job for teachers

In relation to the previous post on possible alternative job for teachers which has low compensation compared to that of being a teacher per se, in this post you will be learning how you can grab one of the most promising job for female teachers.  Why female? Obviously because as a trend, if you not noticed it yet, being a police is actually a one promising job for a female teacher.

This is because in a man’s work world, a woman can excel too and as a female teacher in the police force, you will  be given all the time for those leg works in the office/headquarters.  You see, the salary is good too, as the salary grade of a police is the same with the salary grade of a teacher, this includes higher positions in the police force  too.

Today, because of the gender sensitivity being implemented to most of government institution particularly the police and the military institutions, female personnel to be included in their manpower is one of the requirements of this gender sensitivity scenario.  Obviously, when it comes to the policies of these institution, it is emphasized that gender is not a factor not to give opportunities to females in a man’s world.

But of course, as a police or police woman is not an easy job as you will be dealing with the community in general.  This is also the reason why even the female police applicants should undergo training the same with the training being undertaken by the boys, this includes kilometer long running or let say 30 minutes running and so on.

Of course, before you will be hired or undergo training, you will be first physically tested to make sure you will pass the rigid 6 months or longer training.  You will also be taking series of examination particularly psychological examinations to make sure you will pass the training later.

Alternative Jobs for Teachers

There’s actually no alternative jobs for teachers if you are looking with the same salary bracket as most of those alternative jobs a teacher can get offers a far low compensation compared to salary grade of a teacher.  But of course, this is only for the meantime as later you will also get promoted because you are a teacher.

This is why you need to be careful when thinking of applying for alternative job you are qualified.  Remember that there are other professional who are also qualified on a certain position the teacher may qualify in the business sector.  Of course, a teacher has always a job position in any of those institutions.

But when it comes to alternative jobs, as a teacher, you should have at least enough information about the institution you will be applying.  The possible positions you might be qualified with while you stay on that job and those personalities you will be competing later on a certain position.

You can never tell how long or if you decided to stay on that alternative job forever, there will be times that you will be competing with your friends in a certain position.  This is why you need to be aware also on the over all environment of the jobs available in that institution.  As a teacher, I don’t think you will stay on that position through out you working life.  I am positive you will strive for more because it is in your ability to do so.

With regards to performance, you should also watch your actions here particularly on how you deal on your daily tasks as there are instances that you may be called for additional responsibilities from time to time.  This will be your advantage and a plus points in the future to be promoted in the next higher position.  But, this depends on how you will do it. There is that specific semester that all the employees will be rated by their bosses and you should make it sure you have the right rating or maintain a very satisfactory rating.

This is just one of those situation you will be facing if you will apply for alternative jobs.  Before you do it, make sure you consult your friends especially your family.  You will be culture shocked on the possible situations you might be facing and only your friends and family will be the persons you can run into.

There are lots of alternative jobs for teachers out there.  Just think twice and learn the situations first before jumping into the conclusion.

A Teacher Job in the Non-Teaching Field

Teachers, you might not aware of it, but there are lots of competitive job for teachers in the non-teaching field.  This is because they need the skills of a teacher for other programs in the institution.  Come to think of it, all of those business and institutions or organizations need the skill of a teacher.

In the Bureau of Fire, for example, they need lots of professional there.  From engineer of all sorts, nurses and other medical practitioners, management graduates and most of all, they need teachers and those with others who have technical skills too.  They need a teacher to be trained not only to become a good firefighters but teachers are being hired because of theirs skill to teach.  These teachers will be the ones to make and develop how and why there should be an information drive on how to prevent fires and how the program should be delivered and executed in the community.  You see, even in the bureau of fire believes in “prevention is better than cure” logic.

Nurses will obviously handle all those first aid things to those who will be injured in the fire.  Engineers, well, obviously will be dealing on the estimates of losses or the cause of fire maybe or why flammable materials had caused the fire to third level alarm and so on.  Of course, all these professional should be physically fit because they will all undergo the same rigid training to become an able and effective firefighters in the Bureau of Fire.

In every business institutions there is always that section under the administrative division where a teacher should be the one taking care of – its the Training Career and Development Section (TCDS).  In here, trainings and seminars are being done for the employees to become updated, enhance their skills, refresh the previous skills or just an information drive that every member in the organization should learn and be aware of.

I don’t brag this community that teachers have the sole capacity on this matter, but obviously, when it comes to things like information drive, training, seminars and lectures, teachers will the first choice.  Other disciplines can also do these things.  In fact, it is such a simple job.  Creating a program on how those fire hazards should be separated and taken away far from fire or flammable materials is such a simple thing, but lecturing a group of individual on such a thing is obviously a teachers’ specialty.

Obviously, ones a teacher always a teachers.  You don’t need to be in the classroom with students to practice what you have learned as a teacher.  This is just one advantage teachers have  compared to other professionals.  Well, it is not that I am also a teacher, but I am working and very much happy on my work not in the teaching field.

Resume for Teachers: Job Description

A resume is the sum total of what you can contribute to the institution.  Well, I could say all parts o of the resume are important and you need to read it again and again to make sure there’s no even a bit of mistake in spelling and in grammar.  Today, I would like to focus more on the content of your “Work Experience” – the “job Description”.

You should know that the Job Description is a detailed data marketing your capabilities regardless of diversity in the works you had been through.  This is why as teachers, you need to put in the resume the details which truly is a must for the certain position you are applying. You are also showcasing to the HR what other things you can do for the benefit on the institution.

Let say you have two unrelated job work experiences.  It might appear unrelated to others but the fact that you had handled both and perform well in its duties and responsibilities is a plus because the Head of the Personnel or the HR could now have an employee who can multi-task on some other fields. As you can see, you are marketing a one person who can do many ways in such a thing.

Obviously in school, colleges and universities, there are other positions or designations a teacher should handle while doing the teaching job at the same time.  These extra curricular activities are included in the wholistic and character development of every students, having that other skills as emphasized in your Job Description will be an advantage not only for you to be shortlisted but to be included as one of the faculties.

This is actually one of the reasons too, while more of the teachers nowadays pursue higher education not only to make an adjustment in their salary but for them to be qualified for other designations that will then amplified their capabilities in the teaching field, an obvious incentive is also included here.

By putting the details of your tasks in the Job Description will not only see by the panel how you run your show in the classroom management but also you are giving them the idea that you are such a professional teacher trained to contribute not only for the benefit of the institution but most especially in the wholistic approach of making these learners a functioning individual in the future.  In return, the school, colleges or universities will no longer look for another personnel to do such specific jobs becasue you are already there to handle those must designations in a teaching institution.

So, the next time you submit a resume, skim thoroughly the content of your resume giving extra attention on your Job Descriptions.

Résumé: Impress your prospect employer with your “Work Experience”

You should be aware that the best part of your résumé the prospect employer is looking for you to be considered and short-listed for their additional faculty is your “Work Experience.”

What really is correct?  Is it “Work Experience” or “Working Experience”

I don’t The choice is yours, but I prefer “Work Experience” and not “Working Experience”

Actually, the though are the same, and I prefer the first obviously because of the word “WORKING” stands on progressive tense which emphasized that the action is currently being done.  This should not be the case as you are not presenting what is currently being done but the things you can do based on your experiences.

This is why “Work Experience” is one part of your résumé you should be giving extra attention particularly on the details of your work experience part.

The structure should goes in a table form presented by Tab to maintain the exact distance as you described your work experiences.  The distances, of course, vary depending on the size of the typewriting you will be using or when it comes to just sending your résumé through email.  Most of the time, and based on most of the website offering job for teachers who require your résumé ask you to send MSword format of your résumé.  This will be be good because you will have the time to fix particularly the distances of the data.

And, it goes this way: (a) the title “Work Experience”, no, you should not include the quotation.  I just put it there to give emphasis on the topic I want to divulge.  From the “Work Experience” ( in caps), leave one space.  On the level/ruler base distance (MSWord ruler tool) of WORK EXPERIENCE, after one space, type your POSITION and make some TAB on the keyboard and type “JOB Description” both in italicized form. POSITION and JOB DESCRIPTION should be in the italicized form to give emphasis on the data and not the word POSITION and JOB DESCRIPTION.

Below POSITION will be your position in such particular job and TAB, to align the details of your job responsibilities below the JOB DESCRIPTION.

You should be aware that the Panel or the HR who will be reading your Job Description are familiar on such a job.  Thus, you should be careful on giving details on your job responsibilities below JOB DESCRIPTION title. As much as possible, state all your responsibilities which includes the extra curricular activities related.

Well, you can do it the other format if you like, just make sure you are giving emphasis on your duties and responsibilities on a particular job you had.

Do not just right those responsibilities if you are not aware of it as some of the panel or one of the interviewers will ask the way how you execute your job responsibilities. Of course, you can easily discuss it comprehensively if you really did such responsibilities.  Just make it sure, alright?  One mistake will make slashed from the list.  Take not of that.

Ones a Teacher, always a teacher, the interview panel/interviewer will know if you are just making stitching words proving your stand on such a thing.

Experience is the Best Teacher

I should have written “experience is the best teachers,” in relation to “jack of all trades.”  As a teacher, we were trained to be familiar with a ll the things around the the world.  Teaching young learners is not an easy task as you not be only familiar with all the things  that make the world go round, and this includes knowing the smallest thing that crawls, walk, run and even a thing sinking in a very shallow water.

“Jack of all trades” in a teacher view does not simply mean knowing all the things, but understanding how things had been created and react on certain stimulus.  The learner, theoretically as tabula rasa should be filled with thing favorable or unfavorable to their empty cup. Innately, the learner will discover the correct and possible action on such stimulus.

“jack of trades,” in relation to the knowledge of a teachers, is considered one of the very requirements in teaching the learners to evaluate the learning processes.  As a teacher, you should easily relate whatever situation will arise in the classroom in connection with the lesson being taught.  This is actually one of the innate skills every Filipino teacher imply in their ques to grab such teaching job in the world in the in the world wide web.

LOL, a fried of mine will laughed again when read this post.  You know what, he questions me every time on I reached the peak of being serious, then explicitly remark, “you really are a teacher and should not be working on the other field.   Afterwards, the another discussion will arise, another bottle of drinks will be bought, another discussion will arise until we will agree on certain thing.  “Just same old story, my friend wills ay at eh end before we everyone will go to sleep..
